 3月2日发布的一份基于英国碳信托有限公司(Carbon Trust)以及帝国理工学院(Imperial College London)分析的报告显示，如果英国电力系统市场规章允许利用储能技术，那么直到2030年英国可以节省数十亿美元。

如果这其中一半的“节省”传递给英国国内的消费者，那么他们平均每年电费将下降50英镑。

主要有三种储能类型：批量、分布式以及迅速性。国际能源机构(IEA)同时表示，储能技术或许能够帮助地球“实现一个低碳的未来”。

英国碳信托有限公司的创新主任Andrew Lever在一份声明中指出，能源储存长期以来一直被视为英国低碳能能源行业的灵丹妙药，英国通过以该技术提供一套服务来平衡能源系统，使电力网络更有效率并帮助英国在成本情况下，实现碳排放目标。

能源存储是实现未来低碳、可再生能源目标一个至关重要的过渡，因为像太阳能、风能等能源不能保证会源源不断提供给我们。

但是Lever补充道，存储技术因未能巧妙地融入现有监管框架，从而颠覆了传统知识体系。目前的监管框架一直围绕“电力从大型集中式发电厂提供给消费者”这一能源体系。

Lever继续解释道，目前储能技术的未来舞台非常广阔，但是由于“过时的市场框架”令相关技术部署仍面临挑战。
